Privacy Policy
Effective 21 August 2026
This policy explains what information Provenance X (“the app”) collects, why it is collected, who it is shared with, and how you can delete it. The app does not sell personal information.
| Category | What exactly | Why it is needed |
|---|---|---|
| Account information | Email address | Sign-in credential. The app has no passwords; you sign in with an emailed code |
| What you upload | Photographs or a short video (including its audio track) of your piece, and any notes you write | To generate the reference opinion, and to keep it in your history so you can revisit it. The original video is deleted from our server once analysis finishes; only the extracted key frames are kept |
| Device identifier | A random identifier generated locally the first time the app starts | To attach appraisals made before sign-up to your account, and to stop one device claiming the sign-up bonus repeatedly |
| Network address | The source IP used when a code is sent and when an account is created | Rate limiting only, to prevent bulk registration and code spam |
| Usage records | Credit ledger, check-in records | Accounting evidence, and to make those features work |
| Advertising identifier | The system-provided Advertising ID | Used by Google AdMob to serve rewarded video ads. The app itself neither reads nor stores this identifier |
The app does not collect: your real name, phone number, contacts, or precise location. The advertising identifier is used only by AdMob when an ad is shown; you can delete it or turn off ad personalisation under “Google › Ads” in your system settings.
Only as far as the features require, and only with these providers:
| Provider | What is shared | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Anthropic | The photographs you upload (or key frames extracted from your video) and your notes | Visual analysis by its Claude models to produce the appraisal opinion. Your email and account details are not included |
| Google (Gemini API) | The short video you upload (including its audio track) and your notes, for video appraisals only | Video analysis by its Gemini models to select key frames and record observations. We use the paid API, so Google does not use this content to train its models. Your email and account details are not included |
| Google AdMob | Advertising identifier and basic device information | To serve rewarded video ads and prevent invalid traffic. Your email, photographs and appraisal content are not included |
| Brevo | Your email address | Delivery of sign-in code emails |
We provide no personal information to advertisers or data brokers. No other disclosure is made except where required by law.
Data is held on cloud servers we rent. Sign-in codes and session tokens are stored only as hashes, so even a database read cannot be used to sign in.
Kept for as long as your account exists. Once you delete your account:
IP records used for rate limiting are cleared automatically once their window (at most 24 hours) has passed.
The app is intended for adult collectors. It is not designed for children and does not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Appraisal opinions are generated by AI and are for reference. They are not certificates and do not replace hands-on examination by a qualified institution. Do not use them as your sole basis for buying, selling or valuing a piece.
If this policy changes, the effective date at the top of this page is updated. For material changes to what we collect, we will also give notice inside the app.
